Chirag Paswan hints at swift NDA government formation in Bihar: “Blueprint ready by today or tomorrow”

With the tenure of the current Bihar Legislative Assembly ending on November 22, political discussions have intensified over the formation of the next government in the state. After a strong victory in the Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) are poised to form the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

The NDA secured 202 out of 243 seats, marking its second-best performance in Bihar since 2010, when it won 206 seats. If Nitish Kumar takes oath again, it will be his tenth term as Chief Minister — a record in the state’s political history.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, whose party bagged 19 seats, said the formation of the new government would be completed before November 22.

After meeting Nitish Kumar in Patna, Paswan described the discussion as “cordial and constructive.”
Speaking to reporters, he said:

“I will speak with senior Union Ministers, and the blueprint for government formation will be ready by today or tomorrow. We must form the government before November 22. It will be done.”

Paswan added that final decisions would be taken soon and that there would be “a sense of clarity” once the blueprint is finalized.

During the meeting with Nitish Kumar, Paswan congratulated the Chief Minister on the NDA’s decisive win and criticized the Opposition for “spreading false narratives” about the JD(U)–LJP(RV) equation ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader Upendra Kushwaha suggested that clarity on cabinet formation and seat-sharing would emerge within the next few days.

“People will need to wait a little,” he said.

Government formation process to begin shortly

Sources within the NDA indicate that the formal process of government formation is expected to begin within 2–3 days, once all newly elected MLAs arrive in Patna. Before that, Nitish Kumar will visit Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to submit his resignation and propose the timeline for his next swearing-in ceremony.

The NDA’s performance in the election has significantly strengthened the alliance:

PartySeats Won
BJP89
JD(U)85
LJP (Ram Vilas)19
HAM (Secular)5
RLM4

With seat-sharing negotiations underway, all eyes remain on how the coalition distributes cabinet portfolios and formalizes its power structure in the coming days.
