Al-Falah University to Red Fort: 40 CCTV Footages Uncover Bomber’s Deadly Route

New Delhi — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police have mapped the detailed movement of the car used in the deadly Red Fort area blast by examining footage from over 40 CCTV cameras across the national capital.

Investigators have reconstructed the entire route taken by suicide bomber Umar Nabi, beginning October 29 when he entered Al-Falah University in Faridabad, where he worked as an Assistant Professor. The educational institution has been under scrutiny after several individuals linked to a terror network were found associated with it.

According to sources, the Hyundai i20 used in the attack was spotted at multiple high-security and VVIP zones in Delhi—raising concerns over the ease with which the explosive-laden vehicle moved through the city.

The car was tracked passing through:

  • India Gate
  • Kartavya Path
  • Shahjahan Road near the Prime Minister’s residence
  • Rail Bhawan at Raisina Road
  • Connaught Place
  • Nizamuddin
  • Lodhi Road
  • Aurobindo Marg
  • Mayur Vihar
  • Ramlila Maidan
  • Delhi Gate
  • Daryaganj

Footage also showed the car traveling from Faridabad to Nuh before entering Delhi through various key routes.

On October 29, after entering the university campus at night, Nabi called a mechanic and a compounder to the parking area the next afternoon. The car then left the campus, investigators noted.

On the day of the attack, November 10, the car was seen near Mayur Vihar at 8:45 AM before stopping at a CNG station near Chilla Village. It was subsequently captured on cameras at Ashram Chowk, Nizamuddin, India Gate, and Central Delhi’s power corridors.

At around 3:30 PM, Nabi parked the Hyundai i20 in the Sunehri Masjid parking area near Red Fort. He was seen leaving at 6:42 PM—only minutes before the vehicle-borne IED exploded, killing 10 and injuring around 25 people on a congested stretch near Chandni Chowk.

Investigators are now identifying and tracking all vehicles parked near the bomb-laden car during the three-hour window before the explosion. A comprehensive log is being compiled, recording registration details, entry and exit timings, identities of drivers, and ownership information to uncover potential accomplices.
